Haena An is a jewelry designer and metalsmith based in Los Angeles.

Her work is shaped by a deep sensitivity to material, form, and the quiet presence of objects. Each piece is conceived as a sculptural form — intimate in scale yet enduring in character.

Originally from Seoul, she began her career in luxury public relations and brand strategy, collaborating with international fashion and beauty houses including Burberry, Guerlain, Akris, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Agnona. This early immersion in luxury culture shaped her understanding of refinement, restraint, and lasting design.

After relocating to Los Angeles, she studied Fashion Design at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and later designed contemporary womenswear before gradually turning toward fine jewelry.

What began as a personal exploration of metal and stone evolved into a dedicated studio practice grounded in sculptural simplicity, softened texture, and emotional resonance.

Today, each piece is handcrafted in her Los Angeles studio through a process centered on considered making, limited production, and enduring connection between object and wearer.

Philosophy

 

Haena An approaches jewelry as a form of small-scale sculpture — objects that exist in intimate relationship with the body, material, and time.

The work explores quiet form and restrained volume. Lines are reduced to essential gestures, allowing texture, weight, and surface to define the character of each piece. Rather than decoration, the focus remains on structural clarity and presence.

Metal is treated as a living material. Through shaping, finishing, and wear, each surface develops subtle variations that become part of the object’s evolving identity.

Production remains intentionally limited. Every piece is handcrafted in the Los Angeles studio, preserving the traces of human touch and the discipline of slow craft.

Jewelry, in this way, becomes more than adornment. It becomes a personal object — one that accompanies the body, gathers meaning over time, and quietly participates in daily life.
